Hello MAPS Volunteers!
Happy May! “May” you all have a wonderful month with Cinco de Mayo, Mother’s Day, and Memorial Day weekend! Here is our MAPS Volunteer Schedule for the month of May 2012 (click!).
FALL AMBASSADORS: Your assignment for May includes our 4 Fall Ambassador units (5E Medicine, 6N Neuroscience, 7E Medicine, and 8N Liver Transplant). If you have already completed your Fall Ambassador training, then please conduct your volunteering in these units as Fall Ambassadors, rather than as general MAPS volunteers.
As summer approaches, this month’s volunteering for some of you may just be your last month of full, required volunteering before the shortened volunteering month of June and the optional Summer Volunteering months until October. If you choose not to volunteer with us over the summer but have at least one more quarter left in your year-long commitment with MAPS, rest assured: you can come back to us in the Fall without having to reapply, and you can resume volunteering as usual after reactivating your PIN code with the Volunteer Office. (If you do choose to volunteer with us over the summer, though, we will be sending out an email in the next few weeks asking about those volunteers who are interested in summer volunteering–please respond to that email so that we can assign you units for the summer! Remember, volunteering during both Sessions A and C can count as a quarter toward your year-long commitment!)
As always, Dr. Vespa shadowing is available upon your request with an email to us at firstname.lastname@example.org. Remember, shadowing Dr. Vespa can count as physician shadowing if you are assigned Physician for the month!
Finally, please remember that our MAPS End-of-the-Year Banquet is fast approaching in the month of May! Updates about the Banquet will be sent to you soon!
Please feel free to let us know if you have any questions at all about the May schedule, the Fall Ambassador Program, Dr. Vespa shadowing, summer volunteering, the banquet, or even just volunteering in general!
PS: Try to attend UCLA’s Spring Sing 2012 this Friday night! I’ll be part of the opening act (the UCLA Step Team)–hopefully I’ll see all of MAPS out there in the crowd! Information about the event can be found here–there will be 7,000 people in attendance, so be sure not to miss out on this huge UCLA experience!
